He was predeceased by: his former wife Evelyn Horgan; his wife Joan Hardy (Kain); his parents, Ward Hardy and Helen Ayers Hardy; and his siblings, Joan and Sam Hardy.

He is survived by: his daughters, Beth Orshoski, Linda Hardy and Jeri Ray (Ernie). He is also survived by 6 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
