William L. Fawcett Obituary

In loving memory of William L. Fawcett (Canton, Ohio), born in Ponca City, Oklahoma, who departed this world on February 1, 2025 at the age of 90. William leaves behind a legacy remembered by family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was predeceased by: his parents, Leonard Leland and Lucy Mary Sutherland; his wife Mary Leonora Fix; his son John William; and his granddaughter Emmeline Julia Schumacher.

He is survived by: his daughter-in-law Margaret Fawcett (Clark); his children, Katherine Ruch (Stewart III), Walter Felippe Fawcett, Nathanael Fawcett (Julie) and Julia Schumacher (Jeff); his grandchildren, Charlotte Fawcett, Josiah Fawcett, Madeleine Pointner (Max), Ellison Ruch (Betsy), Gillian Ruch, Christian Ruch, Nathanael Ruch, Becket Ruch, Ethan Fawcett (Enya), Micah Fawcett, Simeon Schumacher, Sadie Schumacher, Lillian Schumacher, Isaac Schumacher, Samuel Schumacher and Mary Alice Schumacher; his great grandchildren, Elinor Pointner, Abram Pointner and Stewart Ruch IV; and his sister Marilyn Sweetland.

Visitation was held on Thursday, February 6th 2025 from 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM and at 7:30 PM at the First Friends Church (5455 Market Ave N, Canton, OH 44714). A funeral service was held on Friday, February 7th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location.

As an alternative to flowers, donations may be made to: H.E.A.L., an organization serving the marginalized in Iraq, of which William Ellison Ruch, grandson of Bill, is a founding member. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to HEAL. and in the notes section write, "In remembrance of Bill Fawcett.".
