He was predeceased by: his parents, Carl L. Smith and Dorothy M. Smith (Bell); his brother Johnny L. Smith; his son Johnny L. Smith; his grandson Cody M. Smith; and his sisters-in-law, Joyce McClaskey (Don) and Janice Keim.

He is survived by: his wife Brenda Smith (Keim); his children, Cindy Redford (Jeremy) and Matthew Smith (Angela); his granddaughter Kali Beadling (Jordan); his great grandchild Blakelynn Beadling; his siblings-in-law, John Keim and Barbara McFarren (Scott); and his cousin Fred Roberts. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
