He was predeceased by: his parents, Lawrence V. Powers and Dorothy J. Powers; his wife Betty Mahood of Winston-Salem; his siblings-in-law, Eugene Mahood (Irene), Bobby Mahood, Naomi Mahood, Lucy Spain (Paul) and Mariam Garner (Harold, Sr.); and his niece Gail Morris (Lester, Jr.).
He is survived by: his children, Susan Disher (David) of Winston-Salem and Paul Powers, Jr. (Tina) of Mt. Holly, NC; his grandson Connor Powers (Emma) of Charlotte; his niece Kathie Stephens (Howard) of Columbia, SC; and his nephew Harold Garner, Jr. (Patty) of Winston-Salem.
