He was predeceased by: his parents, John Jr. Carney and Eleanor Carney. He is survived by: his wife Suzanne (Cooper); his sons, John IV, Ryan (Rachel) and Joel (Lauren); his grandchildren, Brendan, Erin, Sarah, Meghan and Elliot; and his pet Fiona.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made through Central Catholic High School or the Aultman Compassionate Care Center.
