He was predeceased by: his parents, William Thayer and Mattie Thayer (Carson); and his siblings, Billie Kaiser, Archibald Thayer, Adelene Jaimolvicz, Madge Frazier, Jackie Thayer, Martha Thayer, William Thayer, Jr., Jean Baker, Joanne Peacher and Cecil Thayer.
He is survived by: his wife Diane Thayer; his sons, George R. Thayer, Jr., Thomas E. Thayer (Lisa), Andrew E. Thayer and Richard R. Cota; his granddaughters, Carmen A. Thayer and Kairi I. Cota; and his sisters, Mary Heckman (Ron), Sarah Sealy and Linda McMillan. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to either: Wounded Warriors Project or Disabled American Veterans.
