It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Matthew Backes of Canal Winchester, Ohio, born in Youngstown, Ohio, who passed away on March 29, 2021, at the age of 34, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his grandparents, Joseph, Susan Manijak, Robert and Eleanor Backes. He is survived by: his parents, Robert M. Backes and Joanne Manijak Backes of Hubbard; his uncle Dave; his aunt Sue Remias; his sister Allison Black (Jeff) of Mason, Ohio.; his goddaughter Madeleine Black; his nephew Spencer Black; and his godmother Marie Semko-Duncan (Lee). He is also survived by many aunts, uncles and cousins.
