He was predeceased by: his former wife Blanche Allen; and his brother Richard Allen. He is survived by: his wife Sharyn Allen; his children, Kristina Sutter (Gary) and Douglas E. Allen (Nanci); his grandchildren, Sean Sutter (Alexandra), Canaan Allen (Tomanie), Katherine Fitzgerald (Ryan), Jordan Allen (Jana) and Gary Nicholas Sutter; his great grandchildren, Sofi and Lola; and his siblings, Margaret Starbuck (Ron) and John Allen. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
