He was predeceased by: his parents, Fowler S. Hatfield and Eliza J. Hatfield; and his son David A. Hatfield. He is survived by: his wife Ina L. Hatfield; his son Michael D. Hatfield (Deanna); his daughter-in-law Elizabeth Hatfield; his grandchildren, Nicole, Michael L. (Courtney), Natalie, Chelsea and Haley Hatfield; and his great grandchildren, Lainey Hatfield and Nolan Wolfe.

Due to Covid concerns, the family will be holding a private funeral with full military honors.
