He was predeceased by: his parents, Harry Woodrow and Dorothy Patterson (Swain); his daughter Dorothy "Sis" Patterson; and his siblings, Frank Patterson and Diane Meek.

He is survived by: his son Harry D. Patterson, Jr. (Chris Shaw); his grandchildren, Danny, Devinn, Alexis, Connor, Abby, Brianna and Shayla; his fiancé Christy Wilson; and his siblings, Melody Meese, Ida Caldwell, Patricia Carruthers, Richard and Robert Patterson. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
