She was predeceased by: her parents, Everett E. Steele and Hazel M. Steele (Widau); and her siblings, Nick Steele, Frances Webb and Elaine Vivian.
She is survived by: her husband Donald L. Whitesell; her children, Ty Whitesell (Kim) of Louisville, KY and Susan Kieffer (Tim) of Marion, OH.; her grandchildren, Megan, Elise, Kate Whitesell, Ian (Addair Levine), Gretchen Kieffer, Dakota and Hunter Hoffman; and her siblings, Evelyn Summers (Herb), Neil Steele (Marian), Dottie Douglass, David Steele (Brenda) and Martha Steele Spellman. She is also survived by numerous nephews and nieces.
