He was predeceased by: his parents, Harry V. Casterline and Ada L. Casterline; his wife Zelda Elizabeth "Cookie" Casterline (Tingle); his son Gary David Casterline; his sister Linda Fay Ely; and his half-sister Bonnie Jirles.
He is survived by: his sons, Michael Shawn Casterline of Byesville, Kevin Gene Casterline (Wendy) of Pataskala and David Allen Casterline of Cambridge; his grandchildren, Jordan, Brent, Sydney and Owen; his nephew Walter Ely of Barnesville; and his niece Cathy Tingle of Fayetteville, NC..
