He was predeceased by: his parents, Edna Abels and Harry Abels; and his brother Howard Abels. He is survived by: his wife Rae J Abels (Greegor); his children, James R Abels II, Sandra R Abels and Jeanette Foster (Abels); his son-in-law Jim Foster; and his grandchildren, Hallie Hogan (Chris Hogan) and Kyle Foster (Kjira Foster Robinson). He is also survived by grandchildren & their partners.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Christ Lutheran Church 1101 Steubenville Avenue Cambridge, Ohio 43725.
