He was predeceased by: his parents, Walker Evey and Lucille Evey (Lovelace); his son Jay Evey; his stepsons, Dickie Lee Powell and Thomas Allen Powell; and his brothers, Walker "Buddy" Evey and Donald Evey.
He is survived by: his wife Marvlyn Evey (Spence); his children, John Evey (Rita), Forrest "Gene" Evey Jr. (Tish) of Alabama, Joel Evey (Amy), Janice Myers (Jon) and Jennifer Stephens (Dawayne) of Wooster; his stepchildren, Terry Powell (Kathy) of Galion, Edie Tanner (Darrell) of Cambridge, Dale Powell (Debbie) of Edison, Cindy Bistor Cambridge (Bob) and Angela Friensehner (Rodney) of Ohio; and his siblings, Audrey C. Evey and Paul Evey (Dorris) of San Antonio, TX. He is also survived by several grandchildren and many great grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
