He was predeceased by: his parents, Frederick I. Shimp and Mary Ellen Shimp (Tracey); and his brother Paul M. Shimp. He is survived by: his siblings, Fred W. Shimp (Deb) of Medina and Carol Davis (James) of Cambridge; his nieces and nephews, Doug Green (Tammy), Angie Shimp, Eric Green (Susen), Mick Shimp (Jill), Christine Mickey (Bill), Marty Shimp, Mindy McCoy (Rob), Janell McDaniel (Melvin), Jocelyn Zandron (Randy), Jeff LaRue (Glenda), Heather Gerspacher (Troy) and Tracey; and also Wayne Prahalad.
