He is survived by: his spouse Nelson Melvina "Vine" Lawhun; his children, Tina Hamm Painter (Ernest), Nikkie Hamm and Rick Jackson; his siblings, Richard Painter (Wanda), John Painter (Myrtle) and Lena Johnson; and his daughter-in-law Jackie Jackson. He is also survived by 9 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren.
