He was predeceased by: his parents, William Mahlon and Louanna Louise Langel Patten; his wife Martha Kathryn Sanford Patten; his daughter Peggy Louellen Patten; his son-in-law James P. Edmisten; and his siblings, Marjorie Patten, Emalene Benson, Mary Lou Radcliff and Dean Patten.
He is survived by: his children, Randy W. Patten (Cindy) of Noblesville, Jerry S. Patten (Connie) of Valpariso, Brenda K. Edmisten of Pennsboro and Roger A. Patten (Tresa) of Caldwell. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
