He is survived by: his wife Helen Persons Smith; his children, Penny Bowersock of Moorefield, Ruth Smith of Moorefield, Rebecca White (Jonathan) of Moorefield, Ohio and Loyd Smith of New Philadelphia, Ohio; his son-in-law Guy Vale of Deersville, Ohio; his siblings, Bernard Smith (Nancy) of Toledo, Harold Smith (Kathy) of Uhrichsville, Harlen Smith (Linda) of Bowerston, Ralph Carpenter (Nancy) of Spencer, Margaret Caldwell of Newcomerstown, Mary Ann Harshey (Bobby) of Uhrichsville and Barbara Foster (Todd Sowards) of Sherrodsville, Ohio; and his sisters-in-law, Sinda Persons of Canton and Carol Persons of Venice, Florida. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren; multiple great grandchildren.
