He was predeceased by: his parents, Clarence Barnhart and Laura Dalrymple Barnhart; his daughter Diana Lynn McDonald; and his brothers, Charles and Paul Franklin Barnhart.

He is survived by: his significant other Melanie Rose Morrison Barnhart; his children, Edward Barnhart Jr. (Chris), Stephen Barnhart (Sheryl), Lisa Kae Barnhart (Brian Beckley) and Melanie Rose Whiteman (Andrew); and his sister Violet Corso. He is also survived by 21 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandsons, numerous nieces and nephews and other beloved relatives.
