He is survived by: his grandchildren, Piper Aileen Ann Carter, Oliver Jenson Sink and Keith Joseph Sink, III; his children, Marla Kaye Nicol (Neil), John Clark Carpenter (Kim), Mike Scott Carpenter (Lynne) and Leesa Hattori (Bill); his grandchildren, Liliana Carpenter, Alecia Carpenter, Jackson Carpenter, Chase Carpenter, Amanda Kerns (Ryan), Lauren Ricker (Matthew), Austin Carpenter, Caleb Nicol (Alyna) and Krista Nicol; and also, Rebecca Ann Carpenter (Becky), Oliver Hank Carpenter (Nikki), Irene Nicole Carpenter (Jonathan) and Oliver Luke Carpenter (Amy). He is also survived by many great grandchildren.
He enjoyed a successful career as a medical laboratory director, where he was known for his exceptional leadership, meticulous attention to detail and love of the science, making many contributions to his field and earning the respect of his colleagues and those that knew him.
