He was predeceased by: his parents, Rev. Ray Wheeler and Emma Wheeler (Chandler); his spouse Shirley Lou Erwin; his son-in-law Ronald Bair; his siblings, Kenneth, Robert "Bob", Ronald Wheeler (Connie), Melba Wheeler and Geneva Hickman (Homer); his brothers-in-law, Bob Hensley, Loren Stokes, Hansel VanHoose and Jack Erwin; his niece Kimberly Wheeler; and his great-nephew Hunter Hensley.
He is survived by: his children, Donald "DJ" Wheeler (Mary Ann), Deborah Bair, John Wheeler (Marsha) and R. Jayne Woodruff (John); his grandchildren, Daniel Bair (Monaca), Julie Millas (Demetrius) and Randy Bair (Sara); his sister Ann VanHoose; and his siblings-in-law, Richard Erwin (Becky), Janet Wheeler, Patricia Paul, Mildred Stokes, Donna Hensley, Becky Blanton (Harold) and Vickie Goltzene (Craig). He is also survived by 22 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren.
