Dan Steven Fickle Obituary
Dan Steven Fickle, 71, of Burbank passed away on Saturday, June 8, 2024 at Ohio Hospice Lifecare after fighting stage 4 cancer.
He was born and raised in Mount Vernon, OH on May 29, 1953 to Loyal and F. Lucille (Miller) Fickle. He attended both Mount Vernon Nazarene Community College, THE Ohio State University and received his business degree from Wooster Business College. In 1978 Dan moved to Wooster after marrying his first wife (Susan Fickle) and taking a management position at Sears. After several years, he switched careers and was hired as a research Entomologist at the OARDC. He worked on numerous studies, having multiple articles published on his research. He was an avid fisherman, gardener and animal lover. You could always find him tending to his greenhouse, fruit trees and numerous plants at home.
Dan is survived by his daughter Ashley Fickle of Orrville; grandson Dawson Gaynor; siblings Loren (Janet) Fickle and Carole Fickle both of Mt. Vernon; A loving companion Joan Vanderground of Cuyahoga Falls and her daughters; Caitlin (Ryan) Webster of Gaithersburg, MD and Emily Vanderground of Cuyahoga Falls.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Gary.
Friends will be received on Sunday, June 16, 2024 from 12:00-2:00 PM at McIntire, Bradham & Sleek Funeral Home, 216 E. Larwill St., Wooster. Private inurnment will be in Mt. Vernon Memorial Park at the convenience of the family.
