He was predeceased by: his parents, Cossie E. Summers and Stella Summers (White); his wife Jeannetta Jean Given; and his siblings, Harold Summers, Olive Brown, Imogene Shamblin, Opal Crawford, Lois Weiland and Mildred Summers.

He is survived by: his daughter Pamela; his son-in-law James Murray of Creston; his granddaughter Jamie (Jon Wellert) of West Salem; his great grandchildren, Jillian and Joshua Wellert; and his siblings, Steve Summers of Moreland and Judy Stanley of St. Albans, WV.
