It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Alison Smathers of Buchtel, Ohio, born in Providence, Rhode Island, who passed away on February 14, 2024, at the age of 58, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

She was predeceased by: her parents, James Mello Jr. and Carol Taraborelli (Dhiel). She is survived by: her husband Bobby Lee Smathers Jr.; her daughter Stefanie Bonanno of Buchtel; and her sisters, Jenny (Louie), Jessica Rice (Kevin) of Nelsonville and Alexis Mello of Athens.

As a cancer survivor herself, Alison was proud to donate her hair to Locks of Love, to help children suffering from hair loss.
