He was predeceased by: his parents, William R. McKarns and Anna Christina Sparling McKarns; his siblings, Paul, Gertrude Kirby and Mildred Bigler; his son-in-law John Stockwell; and his grandson Zachary Stockwell Wilson.
He is survived by: his wife Betty Lou Starr; his children, Christine Stockwell, William 'Mic' McKarns (Jenni), Jane Fireovid (Jim) and Thomas 'Tom' McKarns (Lisa); his grandchildren, Lara Wilson (Rich), Andrea Stockwell-Johnson (Dell), Daniel McKarns (Chelsea), Nathan McKarns, Adam McKarns (Megan), Jason Fireovid (Mary), Emily Hiriak (Mike), Katie Willson (John), Kate Sickles (Michael) and Jack (Olivia Berry); his great grandchildren, Bee Wilson, Cooper Bradford, Molly, Leah, Anna McKarns, Ava McKarns, Maeve, Rowan, Nolan McKarns, Kayla, Jenna Fireovid, Megan, Brandon Hiriak, Jacob, Sarah Willson and Eliza Sickles; and his great great grandchild Mateo Schwarz-Useche.
Due to the Pandemic, funeral services will be private, and a gathering to celebrate Bill's life will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation to Wesley United Methodist Church, The National WW II Museum, or a charity of the donor's choice.
