He was predeceased by: his parents, Claron Hilbert and Ruth Griest Hilbert; his wife Patricia Liedtke; his brother Charles Hilbert; his nephew Dr. James Hilbert; and his son-in-law James M. Thompson.

He is survived by: his great-uncle Lew Griest; his children, Rebecca Thompson (Robert McCaslin) of Bryan, Marta Witte (Leonard) of Wheaton, Illinois and Dave Liedtke (Cathy) of Stryker, Ohio; his grandchildren, Sarah Dauber (Jeremy) of Bryan, Emily Kurowski (Dan) of Lombard, Grant Witte of Wheaton, Gregory Liedtke (Jessica) of Pandora and Brooke Miller (Brett) of Bryan; his great grandchildren, Drew, Kai Dauber, Kace, Laila, Kaia Liedtke, Braylee, Brodie Miller, Laurel and Leo Kurowski; and his brother Dr. Allen Hilbert of Hicksville.

Due to the ongoing pandemic, the family will receive friends while observing social distancing precautions.
