He was predeceased by: his parents, James Heeres and Hattie Heeres (Visser); the mother of his children Donna Heeres; his wife Maxine Heeres; and his siblings, Thelma Koens (Drenth) and Gary Drenth.
He is survived by: his sons, Douglas Heeres (Ranae) of Fayette, OH, David (Kathy Beal) of Ellsworth, MI, Duane Heeres of Big Creek, CA and Daniel Heeres (Susan) of Stryker, OH; his stepgrandchildren, Diane Zundel, Fred Bechtol, Mike Bechtol, Ivan Bechtol and Randy Bechtol; and his brothers, Chet and Eugene Drenth. He is also survived by 8 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren.
Memorial contributions can be given to the Antrim Church of Christ or the Mancelona Food Pantry.
