He was predeceased by: his wife Margaret Barnett; his parents, Bertha and Joe Barnett Sr.; his son Joe Barnett, III; and his siblings, Cecil Barnett and Wanda Snodgrass.
He is survived by: his daughters, Deborah Hardy (Joe), Linda Larkin (Kevin) and Kathryn Gibson (Stephen); and his sister Theda Blackwell. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren.
