He was predeceased by: his son Michael Jr.; and his brother Albert Yanik. He is survived by: his wife Barbara A. Yanik (Bookshaw); his daughter Tina Werner (Brian) of Hubbard, Ohio; his brother Richard Yanik (Nicole Morris) of Masury, Ohio; his nephews, Devin, Isaac, Isaiah and Elijah Matthews; and also Amiyah.
