Diane Lynn Dillon Obituary
Age 69 of Brook Park, passed away on November 27, 2023, surrounded by her loved ones.
Diane is preceded in death by her parents Paul and Grace (nee Hilliard) Bell, brother Charles Heydorn, and sister Juanita Bell. Devoted Mother of Kelly (Michael Reitema), and Rob (Heather). Former spouse of Bob Dillon. Cherished Grandmother of Kara Dillon, Sean Morrow, and Kyla Morrow. Beloved Aunt to many nieces and nephews and a friend to many.
Diane's primary joy in life was her family. She made sure to support us at all our school functions, from volunteering for field trips and school parties, to attending all of our performances. She not only showed up to every single high school football game for four years to see her daughter in the marching band, she came to watch many Thursday night practices as well. You might think she was a super fan of the band (she did indeed love the band), but mostly she was a super fan of her kids and was always there to support us.
She loved babies, both human and furry ones, and made a beeline for any she saw in a room. And they loved her, too; she had quite the knack for making little ones smile.
She spent most of her working life as a stay-at-home mom before going back to school in her 40s to receive an associate's degree. She excelled at her program and went on to a career as an accounting assistant. In retirement, she loved playing online games. If you gave her a call, there was a good chance when she picked up the phone you would hear her playing Song Pop in the background because she had to get her next round in to keep her ranking.
She was so strong. As the cancer stole her health in her later years, she kept fighting, and she didn't complain about her plight. She still liked to take her family out to dinner at Joe's for chicken tenderloin and German dumpling soup when she felt up for it. She attended as many of Kara's gymnastics meets as she could, even if she needed her walker to get there.
She was kind and very generous to those she loved. If she felt someone in her family was wronged, she would go to bat for you in an epic way. She was so loved and will be greatly missed.
The family will receive friends in celebration of Diane's life at Humenik Funeral Chapel 14200 Snow Rd Brook Park, 44142 on Monday, December 4 from 4-8 PM, where Funeral Services will be celebrated on Tuesday at 10:00 AM. Interment at West Park Cemetery.
