She was predeceased by: her husband Edward J. Jr.; her parents, Donald Mertens and Alice Mertens; and her brother Donald. She is survived by: her children, Edward J. III (Ruth), Kathleen Sweeny (William), Mary Patricia Scalisi (Budd) and Timothy (Margaret).

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be sent to Providence House, 2050 West 32 St. Cleveland Ohio 44113.
