He was predeceased by: his mother Miriam V. Heaton (Cottrell); and his grandparents, Ellsworth, Lois Heaton, Clem and Pearl Cottrell.
He is survived by: his father David O. Heaton of Mingo Junction, OH; his wife Brenda Heaton (Oiler); his sons, David L. Heaton (Stephanie) of Brilliant, OH, Matthew B. Heaton (Michelle) of Wellsburg, WV and Christopher M. Heaton of Brilliant, OH; his siblings, Douglas Heaton (Mary Jo) of Blaine, OH and Diane Moran (Michael) of Murfreesboro, TN; and his grandchildren, Calin "CJ" Heaton, Caitlyn Heaton and Ryker Heaton.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be directed in Mad Dog's memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
