He was predeceased by: his parents, James B. Purtiman and Mary Marie Minor Purtiman; his sister Connie S. Purtiman; his wife Nancy L. Beeson Purtiman; and his sons-in-law, Richard Meighen and Mike Tribett.
He is survived by: his children, Judy Purtiman of McMechen, Tonya Tribett of McMechen, Tamara Marsh (Ron) of Moundsville, Rea Leoni of Weirton, Jamie Meighen of Glen Dale and James Purtiman Jr. (Lea Ann) of Leesville, LA; and his sister Nancy F. Purtiman of Moundsville. He is also survived by 7 grandchildren, and four great grandchildren, also several nieces nephews, and cousins.
