He was predeceased by: his parents, Alfred F. Johnson and Edna M. Evans Johnson; his sister Meredith A. Johnson Agler; and his son-in-law Archer D. "Boots" Wright. He is survived by: his wife Martha Jane Arney Johnson; his daughters, Sharon M. Arner (Stan) and MaryJane E. "Janie" Wright; his grandsons, Evan Wright (Katie), Justin Wright (Jessamine), Nicholas Arner, Christopher Arner (Abbey) and Jeremy Arner; and his great grandchildren, Calvin and Elizabeth.
