He is survived by: his spouse Margareta Erntl; his son Peter Gerds (Dawn) of Lancaster, Ohio; his grandchildren, Erin L. George (Caleb) of Columbus and Kevin Gerds of Lancaster, Ohio; and his siblings-in-law, Hilde and Helmuth Bumberger of Austria. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
