He was predeceased by: his brothers, Don Preston and Jerry Preston; and his stepsister Ida Goodman. He is survived by: his wife Nancy E. Preston (Clark); his children, Angie (Don Stump), Julie (Brian Wombold), Karla Preston of Piqua and Jack (Heather Preston); his grandchildren, Brian "Buddy", Katie Wombold, Charli Bates, Donivan, Stephanie Preston, Mason Kuhn, Lance, Kaileigh Preston and Maia Stump; his son Ross Thayer; his great grandchildren, Raiden Wombold, Caylee and Cori Bates; his stepsiblings, Edward Williams of Columbus, Linda Maute of Dallas, TX and Janice Meuller; and his niece Jennifer (Preston). He is also survived by other relatives and friends.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Bradford Community Club.
