He was predeceased by: his parents, Truman Burns and Bertha Burns (Miller); his former wife Treva Burns (Etter); his siblings, Marcella Finnell, Gerald Burns and Wayne Burns; his sister-in-law Judy Burns; and his stepson Rick Wetzel.

He is survived by: his wife Diana Burns (Smith); his children, Mark (Gloria Burns), Neal (Brenda Burns), Paula (Chris DeVone), Terry Wetzel, Tom (Denise Wetzel) and Joe (Renate Wetzel); his siblings, Bob, Shirley Burns, Miriam and Dale Holler; his siblings-in-law, Jim Finnell and Joan Burns; and also, Robert Dohme, Susie and Chris O'Brien. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren: 14 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, family members and friends.
