He was predeceased by: his wife Jo Ann Hale; his brothers, Buck Hale and Jerry Hale; and his brothers-in-law, Frank Viers and Bernard Taylor.
He is survived by: his children, Jackie Hartman of Bradford, Billie Platfoot (Steve Bey) and Roxie (Ty Thwaits) of Greenville; his grandchildren, Ashley (Eli Oliver), Kendra (Daniel Foreman), Jennifer (Cole Brickler), Kaleb (Amanda Earick), Preston Platfoot, Paige Platfoot and Payton Platfoot; his great grandchildren, Emmalin, Adaline, Harper, Reid, Landon, Sutton, Andrew, Palmer, Waylon and Rylie; and his siblings, Ben (Linda Hale), Tom (Brenda Hale), Bobbie Viers, Pauline Gillespie, Lill (Lloyd Hurst) and Trish Taylor. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
