He was predeceased by: his parents, Leroy Gerding and Thelma Gerding (Horton); his daughters, June Vernon and Charlotte Vernon; his brother Jerry (Jackie Gerding); and his son-in-law David Haupricht.
He is survived by: his wife Elsie Gerding (McCusker); and his children, Cheryl Haupricht, Richard Gerding Jr., Mary Vernon, Henry Vernon and Vella Williams (Dan). He is also survived by 9 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.
