He was predeceased by: his parents, Dana Mathewson and Treva Mathewson (Lewis); his spouse Imajean Klass; his son-in-law Martin Witherell; and his sister-in-law Jean Mathewson.
He is survived by: his children, Dana Mathewson (Christine) of Whitehouse, Debra Witherell of Waterville, David Mathewson of Powell, Darryl Mathewson (Brenda) of Defiance, Don Mathewson (Cheryl) of Holland and Diana Kuhar (Michael W.) of Whitehouse, Ohio; and his siblings, Robert Mathewson of Bellevue, Michigan, Eugene Mathewson (Sue) of Bluffton, Ohio, Eilene Hubbard (Dick) of Ada, Ohio, Sue Schmutz (John) of Bluffton, Ohio and Carol Falk of Bluffton, Ohio.. He is also survived by seventeen grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren.
