He was predeceased by: his mother Grace; his sister Kathryn; his son Gary Horton (Denice); and his granddaughter Jennifer. He is survived by: his wife Joyce; and also Robb Coffman. He is also survived by grandparents, grandchildren, aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.

He wanted this scholarship to be supported in lieu of flowers.
