He was predeceased by: his wife Mary A. Mentgen (Abbie); his parents, William Martin and Ethel Martin; his son-in-law Mark Burnside; and his brother-in-law Carl Mentgen.
He is survived by: his children, James (Maria) and Joann Burnside Hoyt (Fred) of Monticello, IN.; his grandchildren, Amber Davis (Joe), Drew Martin, Maggie Murphy (Sean), John Burnside (Hannah), Lacy Carberry (Tim), Cally Cooney (Kevin), Faith Burnside, Wyatt Burnside, Abbie Burnside, Charles Giese (Shayla), Mary Giese, George Giese, Matthew Shanks, Peter Shanks, Katie Shanks, Becky Shanks and Robert Shanks; his sister-in-law Karen Mentgen of Springfield, MO; his niece Julie Mentgen; his nephew John Mentgen (Laura) of Scotts Bluff, NE; and his close friend Emmy Hann. He is also survived by friends, children or grandchildren.
