He was predeceased by: his parents, Malcolm Buchanan and Dorothy Pugsley Buchanan. He is survived by: his wife Kathy; his daughter Kristin Shine (Rick) of Louisville; his granddaughter Aliya; and his brother Don Buchanan (Mary) of Amhurst.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to the Wilderness Center at Wilmot or to Aultman Compassionate Care Center at Woodlawn.
