He was predeceased by: his parents, Bernard "Ben" and Betty Barhorst (Brandon); his brother Michael "Mike" Barhorst; and his sister-in-law Nancy Barhorst. He is survived by: his children, Josh Barhorst (Libbi) of Bluffton, Jannie Derstine (Matt) of Bluffton and Joe Barhorst (Chelsea Palte) of Bluffton; his siblings, Betsy Rumer (Harley) of Waynesfield, Barbara Barhorst (Keith Burkholder) of Cridersville, Susan Stiles (Mark) of Cridersville, Patricia Barhorst of Cridersville, Steve Barhorst of California and Paul Barhorst of Lima; and his grandchildren, Jadyn Barhorst, Lydia Barhorst, Simon Derstine, Sam Derstine, Calvin Derstine and Willow Derstine.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you plant a tree, spend time with your loved ones or give a donation to the American Alzheimer's Association or Arbor Day Society.
