He was predeceased by: his parents, Gideon Garmatter and Mabel Garmatter (Burkholder); his daughter-in-law Victoria Garmatter; and his brothers, Roger Garmatter and Leland Garmatter.
He is survived by: his wife Eileen Garmatter of Bluffton; his children, Jeff Garmatter (Cynthia) of Gilboa, Robert Garmatter (Rosanne) of Lima, Greg Garmatter (Sandra) of Omaha, Julie Steiner (Ron) of Lima and Amy Garrett (Fred) of Louise, Texas; his grandchildren, Melissa Richards (Jeff), Morgan Rood (Chris), Jennifer Garmatter, Jordan Garmatter, Jason Garmatter, Jessica Geren (Casey), Joel Steiner (Krista), Joshua Steiner (Heidi), Ana Garrett and Kate Garrett; his sisters, Mary Jane Salaska of Oklahoma and Rachel Radabaugh of Columbus Grove; and his sister-in-law Sandy Garmatter of Bluffton. He is also survived by thirteen great-grandchildren.
