He was predeceased by: his parents, Harold Copas and Faye Copas (Moore); and his siblings, Juanita, Barbara Copas and Jimmy Copas.

He is survived by: his wife Ann Copas of Blue Creek; his children, Ronald G Copas (Regina) of Blue Creek, Cynthia Modglin (Rick) of Missouri and Angie Moore (Robert) of Blue Creek; his sister Darlene Trainor; his grandchildren, Courtney and Christopher; and his stepgrandchildren, Brentney, Brantley, Kinsley and Brylee. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.
