He was predeceased by: his son Charles (Mary Emmerth Custer, Jr.); his former wife Judith A. Ambercrombie Custer; and his brother Butch Custer. He is survived by: his wife Shirley Randolph Thorn; his children, Kim Richmond (Chet), Crystal Coffield (Jeff), Richard J. Custer, Jr. (Heather), Vicki Kerr (Chris), Pamela Morley, Colleen Hupp (Paul), Paul Maguire and Christy Drakulich (Danny); and his siblings, Peggy Mowles, Ruth Reitter, Charles Custer and Charly Custer. He is also survived by 33 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren.
