He is survived by: his parent Flossie Belle Ater, Sr. (Self); his wife Marlene "Renee" Ater; his children, Dustin Hester of Washington and Kacie Ater of Bloomingburg; his siblings, Debra Lynn Colburn (Steve) of Clarksburg, Carol Sue Strahler of Greenfield, Sharon Lee May of Columbus, Connie Belcher (Todd) of Hilliard and Alfred Allen Ater (Angel Rosenberger) of Clarksburg; and his father Robert Ater, Sr. of Greenfield. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
