He was predeceased by: his wife Carole Metzger; his parents, Lester Metzger and Martha Metzger; and his siblings, Patricia Miller, Janet Pringle, Joyce Metzger, Donald Metzger and Ronald Metzger.
He is survived by: his children, Jerry Metzger (Leona), Jeffrey Metzger (Debbie) and Amanda Butler (Kelly Hicks); his grandchildren, Katie Burwinkel (Kevin), Jonie Metzger, Angie Thomure (Will), Daniel Metzger (Tara), Dana Grubb (Brandon), Hannah Jackson (Jeremy) and Jacob Metzger (Shelby Howell); his great grandchildren, Shawn Burwinkel, Caleb Burwinkel, Jared Burwinkel, Sawyer Jackson, Sutton Jackson, Harvey Thomure, Logan Thomure, Noelle Metzger and Addie Myatt; and his sister Evelyn Fleenan.
