He was predeceased by: his parents, Earl Marcum and Elizabeth Barr (Coffey); his son-in-law Paul Owens; his brother Ruford Marcum; and his half-siblings, Thomas Barr, Mary Lou Boucher, Gail Struthers and Patricia Barr.

He is survived by: his wife Dorothy Marcum (Coomer); and his children, Alice Faye Owens, Gary Lee Marcum (Deborah) and Gerald.
